Very much yayness
Jul. 25th, 2008 11:50 pmOkay, so...I'm generally very proud of my friends and everything they accomplish, but tonight I am super duper proud of my very dear friend Lisa. Not only is she a total sweetheart who'd give you her own blood if she thought it'd help, she's also very tenacious and works hard until she gets what she wants.
That might not sound like a lot, but Lisa's special. I don't mean that to be insulting, and she really is one of my favorite people. But she does have some mental issues, and they present her with a lot of problems. The girl's memory is a damn sieve and because of this she has a lot of trouble day-to-day.
But as I said, she's very determined and works incredibly hard. She has two more classes to take until she gets her college degree, and I know she's going to do it.
But anyway, she called me less than an hour ago to tell me that as of this morning, she is now a teacher's aide. It's a fulltime job and it's something she's wanted to do for a long time, and I'm so fucking proud of her. It's a very stable schedule and her employer is going to be flexible with her when classes start, so yay.
I just...I don't know, it's hard to describe. Lisa hasn't had it easy and I'm so fucking glad she's got some good things happening for her. She definitely deserves them and I love her a lot, even if we do get on each other's nerves if we spend too much time together.
I told her that tomorrow I'm taking her anywhere she wants to go for lunch, and after that we're going to see The Dark Knight since she's been going on about it for the past two weeks. lol. Then she's spending the night and will no doubt be taking advantage of my digital cable and internet (neither of which she has at home).
I'm really gonna miss her and her Jean-Luc Picard loving ways when I move. If I were staying here, she and I would totally have an apartment together.
I'm really lucky. I've had three friends in my life who have been there for me and made my life so much better and a lot of people never even have one.
