Randomness

As usual, there isn't a whole lot going on in my life, sad as that may be. I wasn't able to take the job at Ashford due to it being in the middle of a cornfield miles from the town, with no public transit going anywhere near the building. That leaves me pretty much back at square one, but for some reason I'm not too worried about it. There are some other positions available on the campus itself, as well as some here in the QCA, so it's not completely hopeless.

In other news, I'm not sure if i posted before, but I was planning to fly to England in late November for an L Word convention over there. Yes, I know, I'm an obsessed freak...but then again, I've been wanting to go to the UK for a longass time anyway, so I figured what the hell. Erin Daniels, Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig are going, so that alone is worth it for me. Anyway, due to the job search situation being as fruitless as it's been, a round-trip flight to and from England is gonna kill me financially. I was still willing to make the sacrifice, until today, that is. I was perusing the boards at MediaBlvd and came upon news that there's going to be a convention in Hollywood a month before the one in England, sponsored by the same company. Needless to say, I was a little miffed, since if I'd have known that beforehand I wouldn't have booked the convention ticket and hotel room in Blackpool. Luckily I hadn't bought an air ticket yet. I've asked the guy running the thing if there's any way I can trade in my ticket for credit to the convention in the US, but who the hell knows right now. Still, if I can take a Greyhound round-trip to Hollywood for $220 as opposed to a flight for hundreds more, I'm damn well doing it. Plus, I'd get to go through the Rockies (which I've never seen) with a 7-hour layover in Denver, which is just damn cool. So who knows, but at this point, if ED and Kate M sign on I'd be willing to eat the cost of the England thing.

Also, I've been writing incessantly. It worries me a little bit that I've become so damn antisocial, but hey, I finished one novel and am close to finishing another, so there ya go. Of course, I don't think I'm too good a writer so I doubt anything will ever get published. I have to keep the dream alive somehow, though. Lol. I think I'd really like to pursue a career in some sort of writing. I don't even care what kind of writing it is, although a big dream of mine is to write for a TV show. Readers of my fanfic might be aware of this by now, ha. I'd also love to write novels, although I truly think I'd be just as happy writing for a magazine. Hell, even writing textbooks would be great for my nerdy little heart.

Otherwise, not much else is happening. I've stepped up my workout and diet plan since my last blood tests came back with high cholesterol levels, but I'll have to wait awhile to notice any difference. Still, I do feel better eating grilled chicken with roasted peppers and onions than I ever did eating Hot Pockets. It's a start, dammit! Maybe in a few months I'll be down from the 160lbs. I'm currently sitting at. One can only hope.
